Who we are
This privacy policy applies to the website operated at www.svslabs.com (the “Website”) by SVS Labs Inc., 12262 Goleta Avenue, Suite 121, Saratoga, CA 95070, United States (“SVS Labs”, “we”, “us”, “our”). For the purposes of applicable data-protection laws, SVS Labs is the data controller of personal information collected through the Website.
For privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at info@svslabs.com or at the postal address above.
What this policy covers
This policy describes the personal information we collect through the Website, how we use and share it, the third-party services that support the Website, the rights you have over your information, and how to contact us. It does not cover personal information you provide to us outside of the Website — for example by email, telephone, in person, or through a distributor — although the same principles broadly apply.
Information we collect
The Website is an informational catalogue of our products together with an inquiry form. We collect personal information in two ways:
1. Information you submit through the inquiry form. When you submit an inquiry, you provide:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your organization or institution
- Your country
- The nature of your interest (e.g. quote, technical question)
- The product and product category you are interested in, if applicable
- The free-text message you choose to send us
2. Information collected automatically. When you submit an inquiry, we record the IP address from which the request was made together with a timestamp; this is included in the inquiry email we receive and used to detect abuse of the form. Like most websites, the Website is also served by a hosting provider that maintains short-lived server logs (request URL, IP address, user-agent, timestamp, response code) for operational and security purposes.
We do not use cookies for analytics or behavioural profiling. The Website does not run Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or any behavioural-advertising or remarketing pixels.
The only advertising-related technology we may use is the Google Ads conversion tag, which records whether a visit that originated from one of our Google Ads search ads led to an inquiry. This tag only loads after you give explicit consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. If you decline, no Google Ads cookie is set and no information is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie preferences” link in the footer. The cookies set by the Google Ads tag (for example _gcl_*) are described in Google Ads’ own documentation.
How we use your information
We use the information described above only for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiry and to prepare a quotation, proforma invoice or technical answer in response to your request;
- To follow up on your inquiry by email or telephone in connection with your stated interest;
- To maintain records of inquiries and quotations as part of our normal commercial books and records;
- To operate, secure and improve the Website, including detecting and preventing fraud, spam or abuse;
- To comply with applicable legal, tax, export-control and regulatory obligations.
Our legal bases for processing (where the GDPR applies) are your consent (when you submit the inquiry form), the steps taken at your request prior to entering into a contract (responding to your quotation request), our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Website, and our compliance with legal obligations.
Third-party services we rely on
We use a small number of carefully chosen service providers to operate the Website. These providers process information on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes described below. We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising or marketing.
- Vercel Inc. — hosting and content delivery for the Website. Vercel processes IP addresses and request metadata to serve pages and maintain short-lived security and performance logs. Servers are located in the United States.
- Resend (Resend, Inc.) — transactional email delivery for inquiry-form submissions. The content of the email (your form submission) and your email address pass through Resend in order to be delivered to our inbox.
- Google Maps (Google LLC) — an embedded map showing our office location is loaded on the Contact and Footer sections of the Website. If the map is rendered, your browser connects directly to Google and Google will receive your IP address and standard request information under its own privacy policy.
- Google Ads (Google LLC) — only if you accept the cookie banner. The Google Ads conversion tag records whether your visit resulted from one of our search ads and whether it led to an inquiry. We do not use Google Ads for remarketing or behavioural advertising.
We may also disclose personal information where required to do so by law, court order or other legal process, or where reasonably necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of SVS Labs, our customers or others.
International transfers
SVS Labs is based in the United States and our service providers are also located in the United States. If you are accessing the Website from outside the United States, please be aware that information you submit will be transferred to, stored in and processed in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms (such as the Standard Contractual Clauses) in our agreements with service providers.
How long we keep your information
We retain inquiry-form submissions and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to and follow up on the inquiry, to maintain ordinary commercial records, and to comply with our legal, tax and export-control obligations. Server logs are typically retained by our hosting provider for a short period and are then deleted in the ordinary course.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights in respect of personal information we hold about you:
- Access — to obtain confirmation of whether we process your personal information and a copy of it;
- Correction — to have inaccurate or incomplete information corrected;
- Deletion — to request deletion of your personal information, subject to limited legal exceptions;
- Restriction or objection — to ask us to restrict or stop processing your information in certain circumstances;
- Portability — to receive certain information in a structured, machine-readable format;
- Withdrawal of consent — where processing is based on your consent, to withdraw it at any time;
- Complaint — to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
If you are a resident of California or another US state with a comprehensive consumer-privacy law (including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and similar), you also have the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising, and the right to opt out of targeted advertising. SVS Labs does not sell or share personal information for behavioural advertising or remarketing, and the Google Ads conversion tag is only loaded after you have given consent. If this ever changes we will update this policy and provide an opt-out mechanism.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@svslabs.com. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
Children
The Website is intended for use by professional customers — laboratories, universities, research institutions and businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or access. The Website is served exclusively over HTTPS with strict transport security, a strong content-security policy and related security headers. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage, however, is completely secure.
Third-party links
The Website may contain links to third-party websites that are not operated by SVS Labs. This privacy policy does not apply to those websites, and we are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review the privacy policy of any third-party website you visit.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page and, where the change is material, take additional steps required by applicable law. We encourage you to review the policy periodically.
